The 2008 Paul Calabresi Award was attributed to Riccardo Audisio, MD, FRCS - Whiston Hospital, Merseyside, UK. This prize recognizes an individual who has significantly contributed to the advancement of geriatric oncology.

The 2008 BJ Kennedy Award for the Best Poster was attributed to Kerri Clough-Gore, PhD - Geriatrics Section at Boston University Medical Center, USA, and Department of Geriatrics, Inselspital, University of Berne, Switzerland - for her poster entitled "Older breast cancer survivors: Geriatric assessment domains predicting mortality and tolerance of treatment side-effects".
