SIOG event recordings are regularly made available here for access anytime and we encourage you to share them with your colleagues. 

As traditional face-to-face educational channels have become unfeasible under the COVID-19 pandemic, our SIOG online think events, meetings, webinars and workshops are filling the gap as a means to demonstrate access to the most recent insights in older cancer patient treatment and care highlighting critical data and best practice.

1. Recording of the SIOG Webinar Series (3) - The impact of COVID-19 on ageing cancer patients (June 24, 2021)

Since the onset of the pandemic, the world has changed dramatically. One thing has remained constant: the resilience and adaptability of global healthcare systems. The SIOG COVID-19 Working Group has consolidated international and multidisciplinary recommendations on specific changes that the healthcare landscape will carry with it beyond the pandemic. As healthcare professionals worldwide continue to deliver care and treatment in older cancer patients, SIOG experts discuss how COVID-19 has impacted the patient experience and highlight the next steps to improve cancer care for patients in the future. The SIOG NAH Interest Group organised with the Young SIOG Interest Group a joint webinar on Immunotherapy toxicity and steroids use in older cancer patients.

3. Recording of the SIOG Nursing & Allied Health Webinar (4) (May 25, 2021)

Shared decision making in older surgical cancer patients. Changing the trajectory by involving geriatricians and nurses was presented by Drs. Hanneke van der Wal and Suzanne Festen.

4. Recording of the SIOG Nursing & Allied Health Webinar (3) (April 22, 2021)

Oncology Pharmacy adaptation during COVID-19 was presented by Dr Kavita Kantilal.

5. Recording of the SIOG Webinar Series (2) - COVID-19 vaccination strategies in older patients with cancer (April 09, 2021)

A SIOG webinar to highlight and review the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines in older patients with cancer, along with potential strategies to maximise their benefits in this population.

6. Recording of the SIOG Webinar Series (1) - Lymphoma in older adults: Research & Treatment options in the COVID-19 era (March 15, 2021)

SIOG webinar on the management of elderly patients with lymphoma. Leading experts in lymphoma will review current available data on the care of elderly patients with this disorder, and will provide evidence-based recommendations, as well as SIOG expert opinion for the approach to the care of older patients.

Geriatric assessment in action: a how-to guide to performance measures was presented by Drs. Schroder Sattar and Mackenzi Pergolotti.
